Reflecting on Our Responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic
Blog Home All Blogs
Over the last few days, we have felt a need to share, vent, emote, and capture the uncertainty and vulnerability of the moment. Let's use this blog as a discussion board for sharing resources and wisdom as well as various calls to action across the Alliance network in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are making our community responses available to the public. Bragging on an ETLC member, Pat Nichols

Posted By Julia Burns, Clarity Transitions, Thursday, March 26, 2020
I  thought I couldn't say enough positive things about Pat Nichols, and then he started vlogging on Facebook about leading during Covid-19.  As a very experience interim director, often of organizations in crisis, Pat speaks with experience.  And humility. And humor.  And hope.  Take a few minutes to check out his vlog. (And go to the videos link so you can see them in order!)  Great stuff, Pat!!

Providing support

With a desire to do something and extra time on our hands, my partner and I took our emergency succession planning template, shortened it a lot, and pivoted it to be more immediately reactive to the current situation and we’ve been giving it away for free.  Many of you have already seen it but, if not, grab a copy from our website and feel free to share the link (rather than the doc) to anyone you think might benefit from it.

Beyond that, it's a lot of time on Zoom.  And now time to honor some online volunteer commitments.

Ideas from Capacity Building Organizations

Posted By Patty Oertel, The Oertel Group, Wednesday, March 25, 2020
First, best wishes to everyone, your families and your constituents. I have been in touch with some of the capacity-building organizations across the country. Here are a couple of their approaches. 1. A Virtual Happy Hour (via zoom with parameters of "no talking about work" and sharing their experiences). Center for Nonprofit Leadership, Ventura CA 2. Posting weekly videos on how to stick to fundraising plans, what to do about canceled events, how to stay hopeful during these challenging times - timely topics. RMU Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, Pittsburg PA We would love to hear how you are doing, questions you want to pose to your colleagues, etc. Take care, Patty Oertel
